So the exact number of calories burned gymnastics probably is not as high as a lot of people would expect. But remember that gymnastics is typically practiced over long periods of time, which means that you burn calories and lose weight because of the time you put it, and not necessarily the effort.
Gymnastics is also quite a worthy pursuit in and of itself, and will help you do other things like improve balance and build muscle.
