One of the best things about calories burned trail running is that unlike so many other forms of exercise, trail running can be a lot of fun, and is much less of a chore than other forms of exercise.  What’s good about that is that trail running is something that you can keep coming back to and keep having fun at, without having to drag yourself out of the house with dire thoughts of a ballooning waistline.

  • If you weigh roughly 155 pounds: 774 calories burned per hour
  • If you weigh roughly 180 pounds: 899 calories burned per hour
  • If you weigh roughly 205 pounds: 1024 calories burned per hour

Calories Burned Trail Running – Moderate Pace

  • If you weigh roughly 130 pounds: 797 calories burned trail running per hour
  • If you weigh roughly 155 pounds: 950 calories burned per hour
  • If you weigh roughly 180 pounds: 1103 calories burned per hour
  • If you weigh roughly 205 pounds: 1256 calories burned per hour

  • If you weigh roughly 130 pounds: 944 calories burned trail running per hour
  • If you weigh roughly 155 pounds: 1126 calories burned per hour

So as you can see there are some big differences in the amount of calories burned trail running, depending on the pace you set for yourself. A fast pace is difficult for beginners to maintain, however, so if you’re just starting out it’s best to set a faster pace as a goal, rather than something you have to go out and do every day.

And if you really want to up the calories burned trail running then consider bringing a little extra weight along. A weight vest is one option, though a backpack with something heavy in it will do equally as well.
